circa 1785, with diminutive banded 1in. cannon barrel fully rifled in eight grooves, border engraved squared boxlock action signed 'TWIGG' on the left and 'LONDON ' on the right, border engraved central hammer and frizzen, London proofs, guarded trigger, sliding safe to the top-tang and slab-sided walnut butt, the rear and sides profusely inlaid with silver wire floral scrolls and mounted with a vacant shield-shaped escutcheon to the wrist, the wood around top-tang with inlaid wire border
